Welcome to Waraburra State School.  Our school prides itself on enhancing all students’ learning. Our goal is to provide students with a safe and supportive environment to develop and grow as individuals.

Waraburra State School is situated in the township of Gracemere, on the western outskirts of Rockhampton in Central Queensland.  We are proud of our local heritage. Our school name comes from the language of the Darumbal people who are the traditional owners of this area.  The Wara (wild guava) clan (Burra) lived in the Gracemere vicinity. Our school symbol represents the wara flower and encompasses the four main groups in our school.  This is represented by four people holding hands – students, parents, staff and the wider community. At Waraburra State School we believe through working and learning together, we can build a strong school community.  To this end partnerships in learning are crucial to successful outcomes.

The current enrolment is 360 students.  Our programs cater for students in prep through to year 6.  We have an inclusive philosophy to support all students with their learning and development.

Our staff are professional, committed and caring, dedicated to the task of educating our students.  Our curriculum is aligned with the Australian Curriculum and our staff demonstrates a commitment to ensuring quality teaching and learning occurring everyday within a safe, supportive school environment.

The school offers physical education, music, instrumental music, STEM and Japanese programs with specialist trained staff.  The school also offers students the opportunity to be involved in singing choirs.  We encourage our students to participate in a wide range of cultural and musical events within the Gracemere Community.

We work in partnership with our parents and community to enable all our students to reach their full potential.  The school utilises the PACER framework to model and teach acceptable social and learning behaviours which are essential part of their learning for life.  The PACER framework acknowledges that a positive realtionship between teacher and student is paramount the learning sucess of each child.  PACER stands for Positive Acknowledgement, Care, Effective relationships and Restorative Practice.  This is integrated into our Student Code of Conduct.

It is a great honour to have the position of principal to lead this great school, which provides many rich opportunities for the  students of Gracemere.
